Negro Accused of Stabbing Jews Wrote about Hitler and “Nazi Culture” in Journal
Grafton Thomas, the man accused of stabbing five Jews at a Hanukkah celebration near New York City, referred to Hitler and “Nazi culture” in his journal.
The Crime Report:
The anti-semitic negro searched for “why did Hitler hate the Jews,” and looked for “prominent companies founded by Jews in America” on his phone, according to prosecutors.
The New York Times reports that Thomas was charged Monday with committing a hate crime. Since the Saturday attacks and other recent anti-Semitic incidents around the region, authorities have boosted police patrols in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods and bolstered security at synagogues.
The New York Police Department has deployed more officers to protect synagogues, said in Rockland County, where Saturday’s attack took place, County Executive Ed Day said a private security firm would work with the police to provide armed guards to synagogues in Monsey.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the “growing anti-Semitism problem in this whole country” a crisis, and noted it “has taken a more and more violent form.” As of Sunday, New York City had seen a 23 percent rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes so far this year.
